Day 1: Arrival in Leh – Acclimatization and Rest
Arrive in Leh and take the day to rest and adjust to the high altitude (11,500 feet). Since acclimatization is crucial, avoid heavy activity today. Instead, relax, sip some butter tea, and get used to the thin mountain air.

Day 2: Discover Leh City and Its Heritage
After breakfast, begin your exploration of Leh. First, visit the Leh Palace, a 17th-century marvel overlooking the city. Next, continue to the Leh Museum, where you’ll discover fascinating artifacts from Ladakh’s royal past. Later, head to the peaceful Shanti Stupa and the ancient Spituk Monastery. Each site, in its own way, reveals the deep Buddhist traditions of the region.

Day 3: Monastic Trail – Alchi, Likir & Lamayuru
Today, the drive westward takes you along the Indus River to some of Ladakh’s oldest monasteries. To begin with, stop at Alchi Monastery, known for its Kashmiri-style murals. Then, continue to Likir Monastery, where a tall golden statue of Maitreya Buddha welcomes visitors. Finally, reach Lamayuru, often called the Moonland of Ladakh because of its unique terrain.
Drive Distance: 125 km (approx. 5–6 hours).

Day 4: Over Khardung La to Nubra Valley
In the morning, cross the legendary Khardung La Pass (18,380 feet), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. As you descend, witness how the landscape transforms into the desert beauty of Nubra Valley. Moreover, visit the ancient Diskit Monastery, followed by a camel ride on the sand dunes of Hunder.

Day 5: Pangong Lake via Shyok and Return to Leh
Early today, drive towards the world-famous Pangong Lake. During winter, the entire lake freezes into mesmerizing shades of blue and white. After spending some peaceful moments here, continue your journey back to Leh via the scenic Chang La Pass. Although it’s a long day on the road, the ever-changing winter scenery makes it truly rewarding.
Drive Time: 10–11 hours total.

Day 6: Monasteries of the Indus Valley
Today, immerse yourself in the spiritual side of Ladakh. Begin with a visit to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest in the region. Afterward, explore Thiksey Monastery, which closely resembles Lhasa’s Potala Palace. Finally, stop at Shey Palace, once the summer capital of Ladakh’s kings, offering panoramic views of the valley below.

Day 7: Journey to Ulley – Begin the Snow Leopard Expedition in Ladakh
This morning, drive to Ulley, one of Ladakh’s best wildlife habitats. Along the way, admire snow-draped villages and mountain passes. Upon arrival, meet your expert local trackers and start your first snow leopard search. With patience and luck, you may spot not only snow leopards but also blue sheep and golden eagles.

Day 9: Return to Leh
After breakfast, begin your drive back to Leh. Depending on weather conditions, you may stop for additional wildlife viewing along the route. Once back, enjoy the evening browsing through Leh’s vibrant market, where you can shop for local handicrafts and souvenirs.

Day 10: Departure
Finally, it’s time to say goodbye to the mountains. After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for your flight home. As you leave, take with you memories of frozen lakes, peaceful monasteries, and perhaps a glimpse of the mysterious snow leopard expedition in Ladakh.
